Let’s Talk Woodstock

Input from the public helps staff and Council make informed decisions about the services we deliver to the public. Your feedback allows the City to better understand the views, perspectives and needs of our community.

Current Opportunities

Previous Opportunities

The City of Woodstock is completing a Transit Route Study in collaboration with Dillon Consulting Limited. With projections suggesting the population in Woodstock could nearly double by 2050, it’s important that we look ahead to plan for reliable, well-connected, and flexible public transit to help keep our city moving.

The study will guide planning and investments for transit and include recommendations for improving route frequency, increasing service to new and growing areas, and creating better connections to get people around in Woodstock. The plan will be developed through a combination of technical analysis and community input to ensure it reflects the current and future needs of residents.

Public Engagement

The first round of public engagement is complete. The project team is now compiling the feedback received and information will be posted once the report is complete. Thanks to everyone who participated.

We are migrating our website to a new platform due to the discontinuation of our existing content management system. As part of the transition, we are updating content to make it easier to find information about the programs and services that matter most to you. We are looking for feedback about your experience with the City of Woodstock's website. The survey should take about 10 minutes to complete and will help us provide a better experience for our website users. The survey is now closed and the feedback is being compiled. We will post the results on this page shortly.

Planning is underway for Woodstock’s next recreation complex to be located at Cowan Sportsfields, 1459 Devonshire Ave. The public was invited to provide feedback through an online survey from Feb. 10 to March 7. Paper copies of the survey were available at City recreation facilities. The feedback received will help inform the more detailed design of the facility as well as decisions around budgeting and timing of implementation.

The Woodstock Sister Cities Committee and the Sylvania Sister City Commission held a logo design competition open to residents of Woodstock, the City of Sylvania and Sylvania Township. In June 2024, Mayor Acchione and Loretta Walters, Chair of the Sister Cities Advisory Committee presented Woodstock resident Nathan Friend with a certification and prize for his design of the new Sister Cities logo. The winner was chosen by residents of both communities and a jury, with equal representation from each city having selected the winning entry. The design will be used to promote the activities and projects of the Sister Cities.

In October 2022, Council adopted the Downtown Streetscape Master Plan. The plan outlines design concepts, recommended materials, proposed phasing and cost estimates and was one of the top priorities identified in the Downtown Development Plan

As part of the 2024 Capital Budget discussions, Council decided to remove the Streetscape Redevelopment out of the capital budget until they had a better idea of the overall tax levy increase. Council also directed staff to get feedback from the public about how they would like to see the project move forward.

The results of the survey were presented to Council at their March 21 meeting.

On March 30, Council held a Strategic Plan Realignment Workshop to review the objectives and actions within the current Strategic Plan and understand what has been accomplished to date. They discussed and identified new actions that the City should undertake before identifying priority actions they want to address over this term of Council. The public was then invited to provide input about these priorities between May 1-22.

You can view the summary of the consultation results that were shared with Council. At their June 15 meeting, Council approved in principle the updated list of priority actions. Staff will now use this list to bring forward specific initiatives for direction from Council or through the budget process for implementation.

The City asked for input from the public to help inform the development of our long-term asset management plan. In November 2022, we asked for feedback about our core assets and the most recent consultation was looking for input about our non-core assets (e.g., administrative and recreational facilities). A presentation, sharing the results of the consultation, is on the Sept. 21, 2023 Council meeting agenda.

Under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2005 (AODA), municipalities are required to establish, implement, maintain and document a multi-year accessibility plan that outlines our strategy to prevent and remove barriers for persons living with disabilities in our community. A draft of the 2023-2027 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan was available for review and comment from the public before it was approved by Council on May 18, 2023.

Recently, we asked you for feedback about the What's on Woodstock magazine. To show our appreciation for your input, we had three prizes available for those who shared their feedback. Prize winners will be notified directly.

Woodstock City Council is considering reinstating the benches in Museum Square and throughout the downtown and is seeking input from stakeholders and the public to ensure their decision reflects the interests of the community.

Thank you to everyone who provided their input. The results have been shared with Council and can be found in the Feb. 16 Council Agenda. The staff presentation, summarizing the results, is also available.

The City of Woodstock asked for input from the public to help inform the development of our long-term Asset Management Plan. The survey was open between Nov. 7 - 30, 2022. Staff presented the findings to Council on March 16, 2023.
