Mayor Jerry Acchione was first elected to Woodstock City Council in 2014 where he served as City Councillor for two terms before being elected as Mayor on Oct. 24, 2022.
Jerry has long been a passionate advocate for the City of Woodstock and is actively involved in the community. He has been a member of the Woodstock Lions Club for over 24 years, was an OPP Auxiliary Unit Commander/Staff Sergeant for 13 and a half years, has been Parade Marshall for City Parades over the past 18 years and is proud to have supported hundreds of organizations and events over the years through volunteering and donations. As a Level 1 coach, he has coached many soccer teams, from Timbits to adult competitive championship teams and was asked to take on the head coaching role for the Huron Park Secondary School Junior Football team.
Jerry has lived in the Woodstock area since he was 11. He was raised in a supportive and loving household by his single mom, Bonnie, with four younger siblings, Gina, Patricia, Annette and Paul. Jerry was blessed to grow up in a close-knit Italian family, often spending Sundays with his grandparents and cousins enjoying homemade Italian food. This might be where he picked up his love for eating. When he gets a chance to make a mess in the kitchen, Jerry enjoys sharing many of the recipes his grandmother taught him, like homemade pastas and sauces, with friends and family.
Jerry is the proud father of two daughters, Katelyn and Maddison. You’ll often see Jerry out and about in Woodstock with his beautiful wife, Sarah who shares Jerry’s passion for supporting local. During COVID-19, they welcomed rescue dog, Dexter to their family and encourage those thinking of adopting a pet to experience the love that a rescued animal can offer.
