Apply to be an Election Worker

Are you interested in supporting the City’s 2026 Municipal Election? Please submit an application and we will contact you if you are selected for a role. The City will not begin reviewing applications until end of August 2026.

Please note the following:  

  • All applicants who are selected for a position will be required to attend mandatory (paid) training in early October 2026.
  • All personal information you provide will be kept on file until Dec. 31, 2026. 
  • For tax purposes, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requires the issuance of a T4A slip when total payments to an individual are $500 or more. This means that, as an election worker, if you receive more than $500 in compensation for your services, the City of Woodstock will issue you a T4A slip. If your total earnings are expected to exceed $500, you will be required to provide your Social Insurance Number (SIN) during your training session. The City does not require this information at this stage of the application process.
  • To be eligible, you must be at least 16 years of age, legally entitled to work in Canada and have access to a personal email address that is not shared.

Voting Locations and Working Hours

As a temporary election worker, you may be assigned any of the polling locations below within the City of Woodstock. The working hours for all positions on Voting Day are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

In-person advanced polling will be conducted exclusively at Goff Hall on October 10 and 13-16, 2026.

The following locations will host polling sites on Voting Day, October 26, 2026:  

  • Goff Hall (381 Finkle St.)  
  • École secondaire catholique Notre-Dame (700 Bristol St.)  
  • Unifor Hall (126 Beale St.)  
  • Oxford Auditorium (875 Nellis St.)
  • Cowan Park Sports Plex (895 Ridgway Dr.)

Available Positions

Responsibilities 

Supports the setup, operation, and closing of a voting location while ensuring compliance with the Municipal Elections Act. Assists and directs voters, monitors the site for appropriate conduct, and helps maintain the facility before, during, and after voting. Additional election-related duties may be assigned.

Payment

  • Training Session - $50
  • Election Day Polls - $ 200
  • On Call - $50

Responsibilities 

Supports the setup, operation, and closing of a voting location in compliance with the Municipal Elections Act. Assists voters, manages ballot handling and tabulator feeding, issues ballots when assigned, and seals the ballot box at close of poll. Helps maintain the facility and completes other election-related tasks as required.

Responsibilities

Supports the setup, operation, and closing of the voting location while ensuring all procedures comply with the Municipal Elections Act. Verifies voter identification and eligibility, updates the electronic voters list, and may issue ballots when assigned. Assists voters as needed, helps maintain the facility, and performs other election-related duties as required.

Responsibilities

Temporary relief for any of the previously described roles as needed (must fulfill requirements and perform all responsibilities with the Greeter, Tabulator Operator, and Poll Clerk roles).
