Youth Development

In this interactive and fun safety program, kids learn and practice skills for a lifetime of safety. Traditional and digital gaming techniques are used to cover topics like People Safety, Appropriate Social and Digital Behaviours, Safe Travels, Online Safety, Getting Help, Fire Safety, Accident Prevention and Basic First Aid. Children take home the My Safe Life manual and card of completion.

Is your child ready to stay home alone? The Home Alone Safety for Kids program helps children and their families get ready for their child’s first steps towards independence and being without adult supervision. Safety and accident prevention are the common theme throughout the program.

In this course, participants learn how to run a small babysitting business and how to supervise younger siblings or other children in a safe and responsible manner. Aspiring babysitters also learn basic first aid skills.

First Aid Training

Emergency First Aid provides a general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries including: victim assessment, CPR, choking, and what to do for external bleeding, heart attack, stroke, wounds and burns.

Standard First Aid provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid. Standard First Aid incorporates Emergency First Aid and is designed for those who require a more in-depth understanding of first aid including: legal implications of first aid treatment, spinal injuries, heat or cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, chest injuries, and medical emergencies.

HIGH FIVE®

HIGH FIVE® training provides participants with a nationally recognized certification that will assist them in working with children’s programs in the sport and recreation industry. Several municipalities, not-for-profit organizations, and service providers either require or recommend HIGH FIVE® certification for employment. The Principles of Healthy Child Development certification course is designed to assist leaders in best practices for delivering programs to children. This one-day course is a requirement for anyone interested in working for the City of Woodstock Summer Camps and/or seasonal recreation programs.

This one-day training helps supervisors improve risk management in children’s programs by learning how to assess and measure quality with the HIGH FIVE® scientifically validated QUEST 2 Tool. Supervisors will use the QUEST 2 Tool and learn how to enter their data into the HIGH FIVE® Database to track their organization’s progress as well as identify areas of need. They will also learn how to debrief the results of the assessments with staff in a positive way.
