City Beautiful Awards

Each year we celebrate our community by recognizing the people who help make Woodstock beautiful through the time and effort they put into enhancing and maintaining their properties.

If you know an outstanding property, nominated them for a City Beautiful Award!

Submissions for 2026 will open in the spring. Please check back for the nomination form and deadline.

Properties can be nominated in the following categories:

  • Residential

  • New Landscape Residential (within the last year)

  • Commercial

  • Industrial

  • Institutional (school, church, bank, hospital, etc.)

  • WEAC Environmentally Friendly

Properties must be located within the City of Woodstock limits and be visible from the street.

Properties may be submitted by the owner or nominated by an outside part. All entries are subject to verification by the Awards Committee.

WEAC Environmentally Friendly Category

The Environmentally Friendly category is presented in partnership with the Woodstock Environment Advisory Committee (WEAC) [link to WEAC page]. This category will be awarded to the most environmentally friendly garden and encourage property owners to be environmentally conscious in their landscape.

All nominated properties will be eligible for the Environmentally Friendly category and will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Absence of invasive species

  • Absence of use of pesticides and fertilizers

  • Inclusion of maintenance and/or water-free plant species, as well as fauna-friendly (e.g. pollinators) plant species

WEAC members will review the nominations, complete field visits and interview the garden owners to make a recommendation to the judging panel.

Submissions are evaluated by a panel of gardening experts and volunteers based on the following criteria:

  • Originality of garden landscape design

  • Plant material

  • Maintenance and vigor of plant material and beds

  • Overall effect

The panel will select up to three finalists in each category.

Finalists will be invited to a Garden Party in Southside Park in early August to enjoy the beautiful gardens, delicious treats, music and lawn games.

The best of class in each category will win a $300 gift card to a local garden centre. Second place will receive a $150 gift card and third place will receive $50.
