Outdoor Ice Rinks and Tobogganing

The City of Woodstock has several outdoor ice rinks that are organized by volunteers with the help of the Parks Department. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the Outdoor Ice Rink Volunteer Application. 

Rinks are open from dawn to dusk. Rinks that have lights will be open from dawn to 11 p.m.

City staff or volunteers may close the rink for maintenance. Thank you for your assistance in keeping our rinks safe and functional.

  • Broadview Park - located at 277 St. Andrews Road - Open as weather allows
  • Donald Thompson Park - located at 647 Springbank Ave. N. - Open as weather allows
  • Hunting Estates Park - located at 1103 Pearson Drive - Open as weather allows
  • Ludington Park - located at 945 Springbank Ave. N. - Open as weather allows
  • Northland Park - located 69 Northland Cres. - Open as weather allows
  • Park Row Park - located at 176 Park Row - Open as weather allows
  • Shanna Larsen Park - Located 48 Upper Thames Dr. - closed for the season

The rinks are open for everyone!

Children under 12 years of age should be supervised and wearing a helmet at all times.

Please note, for safety reasons we can not permit strollers, skating aids, or the carrying of others including babies on the ice. Footwear other than skates is not permitted on the ice as well. 

Yes! You are welcome to use sports sticks (hockey, ringette, etc.). Nets are provided at the rinks. Thank you for keeping sticks, balls, and pucks in contact with the ice surface at all times for everyone’s safety.

We appreciate participants being respectful of other users of the rink and neighbours of the parks. 

Open Water Skating

Skating on stormwater retention ponds is dangerous. Unlike natural lakes, stormwater ponds are intended to collect run-off that often contains road salt and have changing water levels that make ice unstable. Please stay safe by staying off stormwater ponds including open bodies of water at the Reeves Community Complex, Southside Park and Brick Ponds Wetland.

Toboggan Hill

The City of Woodstock designated toboggan hill is in Southside Park, 485 Parkinson Rd. (directly behind Southside Aquatic Centre).

Toboggan Hill Guidelines

  • No skiing or snowboarding
  • Do not use hill when closed
  • Ensure hill is free of hazards - e.g. Rocks, sticks, bumps, ice covered areas
  • Area open from dawn until 11 p.m. when lit
  • Children must have adult supervision, never toboggan alone
  • Ski helmets are recommended to prevent head injuries
  • Tuck in scarves, strings and long hats that can catch and cause strangulation
  • Toboggan facing downhill while kneeling or feet first while sitting
  • Use only proper sliding equipment with good brakes and steering
  • Do not use inner tubes and plastic disks
  • Clear the bottom of the slope to avoid collision
  • Walk back up the side of the hill to avoid collision
  • No horseplay
  • No motorized vehicles
  • No alcohol
  • No pets on play area
  • No smoking within 20 meters of play area
  • No glass bottles or littering
