The City of Woodstock is grateful for the efforts of those who have assisted in organizing the Remembrance Day ceremony, including the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55, The Oxford County Naval Veterans Association, City of Woodstock staff, local MP, MPP, emergency services and local school boards.
Canadian Harvard Aircraft Fly-over
The City of Woodstock extends gratitude to the Canadian Harvard Association and the Miller Family for including our community in their efforts. The Miller Family has generously sponsored the flyover for many years in memory of their Father, Jim Miller.
Poppy Project, Park Place Retirement Residence
Residents, team members, and local community members have collaborated to create vibrant poppies, which will be displayed on the front lawn of Park Place Retirement Residence, 126 Graham St. In addition, they will be offering hot chocolate and Timbits to all attendees.
Remembrance Day Banners
In 2023, the City of Woodstock honoured more than 60 local veterans with a series of commemorative banners. The banners, which will be installed yearly in mid-October, are placed on light poles throughout downtown and feature men and women from Woodstock who served in war and have now passed.
If you would like to be notified of any future opportunities to honour a local veteran, please email events@cityofwoodstock.ca
Note: The poppy symbol is a registered trademark of the Royal Canadian Legion and there are strict rules governing its use in order to protect this sacred symbol of Remembrance Day. It was brought to the City's attention that the poppy crosswalk, installed in 2022, does not comply with the Legion's policy and therefor has been removed.
