Commemorative Crosswalk
In advance of the 2025 Remembrance Day Ceremony, the City of Woodstock is paying tribute to local veterans with a new commemorative crosswalk at the cenotaph. The crosswalk is located at the corner of Graham Street and Buller Street and features a red and white striped pattern, with the silhouette of a soldier and the phrase “Lest We Forget” at each end.
The City consulted with Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55 to ensure the crosswalk is a functional, respectful and meaningful memorial. The Legion's guidelines for commemorative crosswalks prohibit the use of the poppy symbol, which is a registered trademark of the Legion and may not be used in any situation where it may be trod upon.
Remembrance Day Banners
In 2023, the City of Woodstock honoured more than 60 local veterans with a series of commemorative banners. The banners, which will be installed yearly in mid-October, are placed on light poles throughout downtown and feature men and women from Woodstock who served in war and have now passed.
If you would like to be notified of any future opportunities to honour a local veteran, please email Special Events staff.
