Youth Sport and Fitness Programs
Several sport based programs are offered that include a number of progressions beginning with developing fundamental movement skills and physical literacy, and guides children in their skill development to become competent and confident with their athletic and physical abilities. Children will learn through instructional practice, drills, progressions, and game play in a fun and welcoming environment.
Active Kids
This program combines a variety of sports and activities for kids to get them active and moving, developing physical literacy skills, and having fun! Sports and activities could include soccer, softball, tag, frisbee, football, laser tag, and much more!
Floor Hockey
The Floor Hockey Program include 3 levels of progressions beginning with developing fundamental movement skills and physical literacy, and guides children in their skill development to become competent and confident with their athletic and physical abilities. Children will learn through instructional practice, drills, progressions, and game play in a fun and welcoming environment.
O.U.R. Basketball
Designed by Why Not Us, O.U.R. (Oxford Up & Running) Kids Basketball program develops participants' passion for the sport while teaching FUNdamental skills and principles. Led by Duane Kumala-Thomas and the dedicated team of Why Not Us mentors, this program provides a platform to build confidence aimed at enhancing both mental and physical well-being through structured training and conditioning exercises.
Adult Fitness Programs
There are several fitness programs available that will help keep adults active and engaged. These programs are taught by experienced/certified instructors.
Chair Yoga
This class is perfect for anyone who experiences discomfort in horizontal postures on the back or who may need assistance moving from a standing to laying down position. The chair will be incorporated into the class to assist you as you improve breathing techniques, stabilize your core, and increase your balance.
Gentle Yoga
Prepare your body for the day by gently stretching and warming up the muscles. This class is for all levels and will focus on simple flowing sequences and slow-paced movements as you increase balance, strength, and flexibility. Participants should bring a mat, a towel, and a water bottle.
General Recreation Programs
There are a range of programs that will allow children to be creative, learn, and have fun. These may include more active programs, and programs that are educational based.
Spa Nights - NEW!
Get ready to relax and unwind at our Kids Spa Night, where fun meets self-care! Participants will enjoy painting their nails, making colourful friendship bracelets, and crafting their own bath bombs and lip scrubs to take home. We'll also treat everyone to soothing face masks for the ultimate spa experience. It’s the perfect evening to unwind, get creative, and have fun with friends!
Mini Makers: DIY Art Lab - NEW!
Unleash your creativity in Mini Makers: DIY Art Lab! This program invites kids ages 6-9 to dive into hands-on crafting and exploration inspired by our popular “DIY” camp. Each 1-hour session features a new project using paint, paper, recycled materials, and more - perfect for curious minds who love to build, decorate, and express themselves!
DIY Art Lab - NEW!
Unleash your creativity in DIY Art Lab! This program invites kids ages 10-13 to dive into hands-on crafting and exploration inspired by our popular “DIY” camp. Our DIY-style art lab allows kids to explore creative projects using a variety of materials, including paint, textiles, wood, and more. Each 1-hour session offers a new hands-on challenge, encouraging imagination, design skills, and personal flair. Build it, craft it, make it yours!
Stemotics - Lego Spike Essentials
In this exciting hands-on course, young builders will explore the amazing world of robotics while developing creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Using LEGO SPIKE Essentials, kids will design and build fun, interactive robots that can pick up, grab, and even “print”! They’ll get to brainstorm ideas, experiment with different designs, and make improvements to meet exciting building challenges. By the end of the course, children will gain confidence in building and coding while having a blast bringing their creations to life!
Stemotics - Computing with Minecraft
In this exciting program, children will be introduced to the fundamentals of coding using block-based programming within Minecraft Education Edition. Each week, students will tackle a new theme that blends creativity, problem-solving, and technology in a fun and engaging environment. They will become city planners by designing and coding their own smart cities, create interactive parks in a parks and recreation challenge, and build a virtual zoo. They will also explore renewable energy while powering their Minecraft world through a wind power project and take on detective roles to complete missions in "The Agency." All activities are designed to develop critical thinking, teamwork, and coding skills in a hands-on way that keeps kids motivated and excited to learn. No prior coding experience is needed, and all equipment is provided. This program is a perfect entry point for young learners to build confidence in coding while having fun in a game they already love.
Paint Nights
Unleash your creativity in our step-by-step instructional painting workshop led by talented instructors from Social Art! Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned painter, you'll be guided through the process of creating your own unique masterpiece on canvas.
Paint Nights are offered for both kids and adults, with themes that change seasonally. No experience needed—just come ready to relax, create, and enjoy a colourful evening of art!
Holiday Kids Nights
Looking for a fun and festive way to keep the kids entertained while you tackle your to-do list? Our Holiday Kids Nights are 3-hour, kids-only programs packed with themed crafts, games, and activities that celebrate the magic of each season.
Each night includes a pizza dinner and plenty of creative fun, giving kids a chance to socialize, play, and get crafty—while you enjoy some well-deserved time to yourself.
Leadership and Development Programs
There are a range of programs that will provide children with the opportunity to grow, develop, and learn new skills relating to leadership and independence.
My Safe Life
In this interactive and fun safety program, kids learn and practice skills for a lifetime of safety. Traditional and digital gaming techniques are used to cover topics like People Safety, Appropriate Social and Digital Behaviours, Safe Travels, Online Safety, Getting Help, Fire Safety, Accident Prevention and Basic First Aid. Children take home the SOS4Kids My Safe Life manual and card of completion.
Home Alone
Is your child ready to stay home alone? The Home Alone Safety for Kids program helps children and their families get ready for their child’s first steps towards independence and being without adult supervision. Safety and accident prevention are the common theme throughout the program.
Babysitting Training
In this course, participants learn how to run a small babysitting business and how to supervise younger siblings or other children in a safe and responsible manner. Aspiring babysitters also learn basic first aid skills.
Snow Buddies
The Snow Buddies program helps adults who need assistance by giving them a volunteer buddy in their neighbourhood to help with the shoveling of snow.
Buddies must be 12 years of age or older, and must participate in a free training session hosted by the City.
