Yard Waste

Brush, yard waste and wood chippings may be dropped off at our Yard Waste Depot. There are three piles within the depot that waste must be properly sorted into - yard waste, brush and woodchips. Note, in all three piles garden, yard waste or plastic bags are not permitted. Please take any bags used for transport with you.

Location and Hours of Operation

The Yard Waste Depot is located at 944 James St. (between Clarke Street and Springbank Avenue) and is open seven days a week for the convenience of our residents.

Monday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Tuesday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Wednesday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Thursday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

 

Yard Waste Pile

The following materials can be dropped at the yard waste pile in the depot. Materials that are not accepted must be brought to the Oxford County Waste Management Facility located in Salford for disposal. Follow Oxford County website link for information on the county's landfill hours of operation and fees that may apply.

  • Grass (no sod)
  • House and Garden Plants
  • Hedge and tree clippings - maximum diameter 7 cm (3 in)
  • Leaves
  • Pumpkins
  • Sawdust (natural wood, no pressure-treated)
  • Weeds

  • Dirt
  • Hazardous Waste
  • Items in plastic bags - Plastic is not compostable! Please remove any yard waste from bags.
  • Pressure-treated wood (no fencing or decking)
  • Rocks
  • Sod
  • Stumps, logs or lumber
  • Top Soil

Brush Pile

  • Brushes 
  • Christmas trees (no artificial trees – bring those to the EnviroDepot)
  • Limbs
  • Tree branches

Brush must be less than:

  • 10 cm (4 in) in diameter
  • 1.8 m (6 ft) in length

Why? Brush gets chipped and composted. Brush larger than the dimensions above cannot go through the equipment and must be brought to the Oxford County Waste Management Facility for disposal.

Wood Chip Pile

Residents can drop off their unwanted woodchips and chipped brush. Woodchips are available for the public to take home for free!

  • Pressure-treated wood
