Official City Bird
The Black-capped Chickadee has been chosen as the official bird of the City of Woodstock!
Residents were invited to vote for the bird they felt best represented our community, and after the votes were counted, the Black-capped Chickadee was named our official city bird.
Black-Capped Chickadee
- a year-round resident of Woodstock
- feeds on seeds, spiders, and insects
The Black-Capped Chickadee is regarded as one of the friendliest bird species
Where it's been found in Woodstock:
- a regular visitor to bird feeders. Can easily be seen in shrubby areas in parks and along trails
A Bird Friendly City
Woodstock has been designated as a Bird Friendly City by Nature Canada, recognizing the community’s efforts to create a safer and more welcoming environment for birds.
The Bird Friendly City program encourages communities to protect and restore bird habitat, reduce threats to birds and help residents learn more about the species that share our community.
