Yard waste in 3 bins

The Woodstock Yard Waste Depot is open seven days a week for the convenience of our residents.

944 James Street (between Clarke Street and Springbank Avenue)

Brush, yard waste and wood chippings may be dropped off at our Yard Waste Depot. Waste must be sorted appropriately into these 3 separate piles. See a list of acceptable items below: 

Please remove all garden/yard waste from plastic bags and take them back with you. Please follow all signage and please do not dump unacceptable items! The area is monitored by cameras.

YARD WASTE PILE

 Acceptable Materials
  • Pumpkins
  • Leaves
  • House & Garden Plants
  • Hedge & tree clippings (maximum diameter: 7cm (3in)
  • Grass (No Sod)
  • Weeds
  • Saw Dust (natural wood, no pressure treated)
 Unacceptable Materials
  •  Items in plastic bags
    Why? Plastic is not compostable! Please remove any yard waste from bags.
  • Sod
  • Top Soil
  • Stumps, logs or lumber
  • Dirt
  • Pressure treated wood (NO fencing or decking)
  • Rocks
  • Hazardous Waste

 

Unacceptable items may be brought to the Oxford County Waste Management Facility for Disposal, located in Salford, Ontario.

 


 

BRUSH PILE

 Acceptable Materials
  •  Tree branches
  • Limbs
  • Brushes 
  • Christmas Trees (no artificial trees – bring to the Enviro Depot)
Unacceptable Materials 

Brush is to be no larger than the below measurements:

  • Maximum diameter: 10cm (4 in)
  • Maximum Length: 1.8m (6 ft)

Why?

Brush gets chipped and composted, any brush larger than the above dimensions is unable to be ground up and must be brought to the Oxford County Waste Management Facility for disposal.


 

 

WOOD CHIP PILE

 Acceptable Materials
  • Woodchips, chipped brush
  • Woodchips are available for the public to take home for free! 
 Unacceptable Materials
  • Items in plastic bags

    Why? Plastic is not compostable! Please remove any yard waste from bags.
  • Pressure treated wood
  • Furniture or chemicals
