Woodstock kicks off 125th anniversary celebrations on Victoria Day weekend

The City of Woodstock is kicking off its 125th anniversary celebrations during the Victoria Day weekend midway and parade.

The midway is returning to Southside Park from May 14 – 18 weekend, followed by the 78th annual Victoria Day parade on May 18. The event will also include a Victoria Day Rewind after the parade, with retro games, classic play and all ages fun in honour of the city’s anniversary.

“We’re reviving some favourite community traditions including a band tattoo, which is a spectacular display of choreographed marching band performances, along with a car show in the South Gate Centre parking lot,” said Kristen Brodhagen, Manager of Special Events.

“People can pack a picnic and unwind together in the park or compete in some classic team building and lawn games. There will also be interactive demonstrations from authentic Medieval knights and a Teddy Bear Picnic for children.”

Limited edition anniversary merch will be for sale at the event, featuring a special Woodstock 125 logo and five unique designs highlighting local heritage landmarks. The Woodstock Coin Club is also unveiling commemorative coins designed by local residents.

The midway opens for the weekend on Thursday at 5 p.m. and offers a variety of amusement rides, carnival games and food. This year there will be a new ride credit and reloadable card system for customers.

The parade gets underway at 10 a.m. on Monday, with floats, marching bands, cars and entertainers making their way from the Woodstock Fairground to Southside Park.

The excitement will continue in the park with the Victoria Day Rewind until 2 p.m. and a final chance to visit the midway.
