Charges Laid and Guilty Plea Entered in Dog-at-Large Case

Woodstock, ON - The City of Woodstock is advising residents of recent enforcement actions related to dog‑at‑large violations.

City By-law Enforcement Officers laid multiple charges in the Ontario Court of Justice for “Permit Dog to Run at Large” following several complaints received in late December 2025 and early January 2026.

On April 23, 2026, the accused pled guilty to seven counts of permitting a dog to run at large which resulted in the court imposing a probation order.

City of Woodstock By-law Enforcement reminds all residents that dogs must be securely controlled by both a collar and leash when off their owner’s property. Verbal commands alone are not considered acceptable control under municipal regulations.
