Hydro One Planned Power Outage Oct. 18

On Sunday, October 18 from approximately 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. Hydro One crews will be replacing aging switches and associated equipment at Woodstock Transformer Station.

As a result, more than 14,000 Hydro One customers in Woodstock and Oxford North will experience a power outage during that time. Outages are scheduled for when the least amount of energy is being used to minimize impact to customers.

Affected Hydro One customers will be notified via an automated phone call or text. Customers not yet registered for outage alerts can sign up at hydroone.com/outages. Customers can also visit Hydro One's outage map or call 1-888-664-9376 for more information.

Customers are encouraged to prepare for the upcoming outage through the following actions:

  • Ensure appliances, such as the stove, are in the off position
  • Fully charge cellphones and other devices
  • Use a battery-powered alarm clock or cellphone so morning alarms aren’t missed
  • Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible and use a cooler with ice for items needed during the planned outage
  • If water services will be affected at your home, consider filling jugs of water to use for drinking and cooking
  • If using a generator, remember to use it in a dry area outdoors away from any open windows, doors and vents
