Downtown Woodstock garbage and green bin collection changes start October 6

Residents and businesses in downtown corridor will receive twice weekly pick-up on Tuesdays and Fridays

Businesses and residents in downtown Woodstock will receive twice weekly garbage and green bin organics collection starting October 6, 2026. The change applies only to the Dundas Street corridor and laneways between Vansittart Avenue and Wilson Street. 

Collection will take place every Tuesday and Friday morning, except on statutory holidays when alternate pick-ups dates will be added. Set-out information for the new downtown collection zone, Zone 5a, is being hand-delivered to addresses in the downtown area this week and can be downloaded at www.oxfordcounty.ca/wasteline or www.cityofwoodstock.ca/living-in-woodstock/garbage-and-recycling/garbage.

There are no changes to blue box recycling for business, collected once a week on Tuesday, or residential recycling, which is collected every six business days under the regular Zone 5 schedule.

The new collection schedule is an interim change in effect to December 31, 2026, until a permanent schedule and budget funding is confirmed by Oxford County and City of Woodstock Councils. It follows a motion at the September 9, 2026, meeting of Oxford County Council that directed staff to reinstate an enhanced service level for waste collection in downtown Woodstock.
