  • April 3, 2017 to April 7, 2017
  • October 2, 2017 to October 6, 2017

Curbside Loose Leaf Collection

Only loose leaves may be raked as close as possible to the curb on the roadside.  Leaves must be within 1 metre or 3 feet of the curb on the roadside.  Leave on the boulevard will not be picked up.

Curbside collection begins mid-October and runs until the early December. Residents are asked to rake their leaves to the curb during this period. Street sweeper and our leaf vac will be out daily and working through the night to collect the leaves, weather permitting.

Helpful Tips

  • Pile loose leaves neatly along the curb,
  • Please do not mix rocks, branches or other debris with the leaves. These materials pose a safety risk to crews and may cause mechanical failure and scheduling issues,
  • Do not place brush, ornamental grasses, potting material or bagged leaves at the curb.  These items can be dropped off at the yard waste depot at 944 James Street from 8:00 a.m. to dusk, seven days a week,
  • Avoid parking vehicles on top of the piles. This makes it difficult for the sweeper and vacuum truck to take up the leaves properly,
  • Avoid piling leaves over top catch basins/ storm drains. This can lead to flooding during storm events,
  • Be mindful of bike lanes, and
  • Children should not play in the leaves to ensure their safety.

Other options for disposing leaves

  • Bring your leaves to the yard waste depot at 944 James Street (Hours of operations: 8:00 a.m to dusk),
  • Mulch them with your lawn mower, or
  • Place them in your backyard composter.

Loose leaf schedule

Leaf collection begins October 16, 2017 and the last week of collection is December 4, 2017. Please do not rake any more leaves to the curb after Sunday, December 3, 2017 as we are wrapping up this program. If you still have leaves that you wish to dispose of, please bring them to our Yard Waste Depot on James Street..

Christmas Tree Collection

Christmas trees must be placed in a visible area within 1m or 3 ft from the curb and out by 7:30 a.m. on the collection week. Please do not leave the tree in a bag at the curb. Your Christmas tree will not bit picked up if it is wrapped in a bag.

Also, please be mindful of when we have a snow event or when blow or shovel your property not to cover your Christmas tree.  If it does get covered with snow, please move it back on top of the snow pile. Trees buried in the snow will not be picked up.

Another Option for Disposing of Your Tree

Trees can also be dropped off at the Yard Waste Depot at 944 James Street and placed in the brush pile.  Hours of operations are from 8:00 a.m. to dusk.
