The Great Pumpkin Rescue

After Halloween, rather than composting or throwing out your unwanted, unpainted pumpkins and squash, drop them off at the City's EnviroDepot. Donations will go directly to local farms as feed for livestock. You can drop off your pumpkins at 944 James St. from Nov. 1 to 10:

  • Wednesday - Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Other disposal methods

If your pumpkins are not eligible for the Great Pumpkin Rescue (e.g., are painted or rotting), you can:

  • Drop them off at our Yard Waste Depot in the yard waste pile.
  • Put them in your back yard composter or green cone. Cutting up your pumpkins to smaller pieces will help the composting process, but is not necessary.

If you are not able to compost your pumpkins or bring them to our Yard Waste Depot, you will need to place them in a garbage bag and tag it as household garbage. Please remember the maximum weight for all garbage bags is 44 lbs or 20 kg.

Leaf Collection Program

Residents can visit our leaf collection program page to learn more about their options for getting rid of their leaves each fall.

Christmas Tree Collection

The City of Woodstock offers a convenient curbside tree collection for one week in the month of January. Trees must be placed at the curb before the Monday of our collection week and not on your garbage and recycling collection day. Depending on weather, our staff can usually have all trees picked up before mid week.

Curbside collection will take place from Jan. 9 to 13, 2023.

  • Place Christmas trees in a visible area within 1 m or 3 ft from the curb
  • Place trees out before 7 a.m. the Monday of the collection week
  • Keep trees out of the snow and on top of snow piles
  • Be mindful when there is snow events or blowing slow. Keep your tree visible and accessible
  • Don't wrap trees in bags - they will not be collected. Plastic is not compostable.

  • Don't bury trees in snow. Trees need to be visible and easy to access.

  • Don't place trees out on your garbage collection day. Trees must be out by 7 a.m. the Monday of the collection week. There is no set collection route/schedule, once we have been in your area, we will not be able to double back.

Don’t Want To Wait?
