“A combination of fibrous materials, running hand stitches, and painted medicine wheel colours were applied. The central section represents the golden structure that was imposed upon the Residential Schools in Canada. As a metaphor, each small hand stitched square portrays a compartment of a child’s bed. On the left side of the canvas, a bedcover was hand stitched and emphatically painted to emphasize chaos and turmoil. On the right side, a shrouded child is forced into expulsion.”
