Lake Erie Lotus, 2021
acrylic on canvas
“I was fascinated when I heard about lotuses blooming along Lake Erie. There is a fossil record of them dating back to prehistoric times around the Niagara Escarpment and the Great Lakes Basin. I learned they were a source of food to Native Americans as well. Personally, the lotus symbolizes rebirth and a sense of peace. This painting depicts the life cycle of a lotus flower and I hope to convey a sense of rebirth and hope to the viewer.”
