“I am a mosaicist. Materials matter: they are why I mosaic. The find, the ‘playing’ with materials before design, and the conversations that develop around the work are all important aspects of my process. Materials have a voice: sometimes loud, sometimes soft, but always strong. The exploration of materials and how they work alone, or occasionally together with other materials, to create either harmony or disparity is what fires me. Materials dictate design, never the other way around.”
