LIFE DRAWING - DISCOVER NEW A WAY OF SEEING! 

Ages: 16+
Guest instructor: Ron Milton.
Weekly figure drawing classes include a curriculum, at-home practice and monthly critique by arts professional, Ron Milton. Models will be posing nude and/or in costume for various lengths of time throughout the evening. Registrants are required to bring their own drawing tools and materials.

Introduction to Bookbinding: Small Binding in Hard Cover

Ages: 14+
Instructor: Member of the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild (CBBAG)
This is the second of 3 workshops offered by the CBBAG at the WAG. Students will create their own text block bound in a small, hard cover book. All materials are included in the cost of registration.

SHARING THE MOSAIC EXPERIENCE

Adult and Youth pairing 6+
Instructor: Heather Vollans
This half-day workshop provides an opportunity for adult/youth partners to learn the basics of glass mosaic together. Collaborate, bond and create. All tools and materials are provided to a maximum of 8 pairs for a dynamic intergenerational bonding experience. A mosaic is a piece of art or image made from the assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other materials.

Introduction to Bookbinding: Lace Paper Binding

Age: 14+
Instructor: Member of the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild (CBBAG)
This is the final of 3 workshops offered by the CBBAG at the WAG. The final book project for the season is an ambitious project patterned after a historical structure, known as “Limp vellum.” The pages of this structure are stitched to leather cords that are woven through a heavy paper cover. All materials are included in the cost of registration.

Introduction to Painting

Age: 12–17

Students will discover the elements and principles of art as they explore a variety of painting exercises, demonstrations and projects. All materials are included in the cost of registration.

Discover Drawing

Age: 12–17
Instructor: Mercedes Schuster
This winter, students have the opportunity to work with arts professional, Mercedes Schuster. Students will be introduced to contemporary and traditional drawing practices, exploring popular artists and art fundamentals through hands-on studio experience. Tour current exhibitions, and build your portfolio. Students are required to bring appropriate clothing, a snack and imagination!

Painting with Dye, Painting with Colour

Age: 16+
Instructor: Nancy Latchford
Anyone interested in working with colour will ‘dye’ to try learning a very specific way of dyeing fabrics and threads in this workshop. Colour theory will be explored using Procion MX Dyes. The dyes are designed to work on natural materials, and mixing and layering the unique colours is very similar to painting with watercolours. Discover a variety of resist techniques to create and develop original patterns. All materials are included in the cost of registration. Please bring a towel for clean-up and plastic bag to carry home.

Printmaking Possibilities- 3 colour reduction relief

Age: 14+

Instructor: Andrew Moore

You don’t need to be an artist to discover the endless possibilities that printmaking has to offer. This 3 week session is an opportunity for everyone to check out the WAG’s newly developed environmentally responsible printmaking studio with no pressure. Students will discover relief printmaking methods and practices. Make a beautifully designed, 3 colour lino-cut, suitable for greeting or birthday cards. All materials are included in the cost of registration. To save time, students are to bring in ready to use drawn or printed images in preparation for their idea. Images will be provided for those who require them.
