Memories Pixel by Pixel, 2023
oil on canvas
45.72 x 60.96 cm

When loved ones leave this world, all we have to remember them are pixels. Moments captured and stored on a device, only looked at again when it’s time. Slowly those pixels lose any feeling of that moment and now have the feeling of loss attached to them. This is what this work describes, the feeling of loss and remembrance. I pixelated one person in this picture to demonstrate even though you are there in the photograph, the feelings aren’t after due time. Those same pixels are the ones you yearn to be in again, in the same moment.
