My artwork talks about the LGBTQ community in Canada which has made major strides toward equal rights and freedoms and mainstream recognition in the Canadian society. The LGBTQ flag on the nails signifies safe spaces, defiance, optimism, survival to queers all over the world. The LGBTQ people have been recorded and documented in Canadian history for centuries; the community is welcomed, accepted, embraced and protected by the society and is free to be their true selves. The true meaning behind this art piece is to recognize and honour the LGBTQ community.
