When working on this piece initially I did not have a specific image in mind of what I was trying to achieve in terms of composition. After I began pouring the paint, I decided that I could try to make it look like an abstract version of one of my favourite flowers, the blue iris: hence the name of the work. I have worked with fluid art quite a few times before, but Blue Irises quickly became one of my favourite works. I found that the movement that was created really added a beauty to the piece.
