Visual Elements: Annual Juried Exhibition
The Woodstock Art Gallery's annual juried exhibition is a long-running celebration of artistic talent in Oxford County and the surrounding regions. The call for artists typically opens in mid-February, with the exhibition running from July to September. Please review the key dates, submission requirements and terms of entry below before starting your submission.

• For each artwork submitted, artists must provide a 100 word artist statement. The WAG reserves the right to edit statements for length or clarity. • Artwork images should be well lit, clear and of high quality. Low quality images run the risk of not being accurately represented to the jury. Each entry may be represented by up to three different views, for a total number of six images per artist. Multiple views are recommended for 3D works. • Files must be labelled: “Artist’s Last Name_Title of Work” (e.g. Smith_MyArtwork). Add a number to the file name if you are submitting multiple images (e.g. Smith_MyArtwork_1). • Images may be submitted as JPG, JPEG files only. The registration form will not accept PDF files. • File resolution must be no larger than 2MB. A minimum width and/or height of 1000 pixels is recommended, with a resolution no larger than 300 dpi. |

• Open to southwestern Ontario artists working in any medium. • Maximum of two works per artist. • $10 entry fee per artwork. Payment must be made by credit card through the online registration form. • All artwork and artist statements will be submitted through the online registration form. Email entries will not be accepted. Please see the submission requirements above. • Please be as specific as possible when listing the medium of the entry on the registration form, including substrate (canvas, paper, panel etc.) Measurements must include framing, if applicable. • All juried artworks will be provided with a QR code on the artwork label. Limit of ONE QR code per submission. • WAG reserves the right to refuse any artworks due to questions of copyright, ownership, safety and/or authorship. Artworks deemed unfit for display, or posing concerns for the safety of the Permanent Collection will not be accepted, at the discretion of WAG staff. This includes, but is not limited to, the presence of wet, unfixed or uncured materials, pests, mould, insecure framing or mounting hardware. • All works must have been completed within the last 18 months, are wholly original and have been created by the submitting artist. • Artists whose work is selected by the jury will be notified by June 11, 2026. • The jury’s decision is final. No entry may be withdrawn after the exhibition has been installed. • Instructions for artwork drop-off will be provided upon notification of acceptance. Pick-up instructions will be provided following the conclusion of the exhibition in September 2026. • Submissions must be ready-to-hang with d-rings and wire (if applicable) and have no wet media. New media works must come with AV equipment and instructions provided by the artist. • All accepted artworks will be insured while on the premises at WAG until the last specified pick-up date. All insurance costs will be covered by WAG. • Accepted artists will receive a stipend of $100 for each work exhibited as per the Canadian Copyright Act. Payments will be issued after July 14, 2026, and may take four to six weeks to process. Payments are issued by the City of Woodstock via direct deposit. • Artworks will be available for purchase exclusively during WAG's annual fundraiser, Taste of Art on Saturday, September 19, 2026 between 7-10pm. WAG receives 50% commission on all sales resulting from the exhibition. Artists may choose to donate 100% of the sale of the work back to WAG. Artists may choose not to sell their work and it will be listed as not for sale (NFS). • WAG does not collect HST. It is the responsibility of the artists that collect HST to adjust the price of their work accordingly. Payments for sales will be issued after September 21, 2026 and may take four to six weeks to process. Payments are issued by the City of Woodstock via Direct Deposit. • By entering the exhibition, artists grant WAG the right to use images of artwork(s) and artist statements for the website and/or app, poster, publicity, advertising, educational reference and social media. • Registration forms must be submitted online by April 23, 2026, at noon to be considered for the exhibition. No late entries will be accepted. No email entries will be accepted. |
The exhibition schedule is rigorously planned to reflect both contemporary and historical art, as well as selections drawn from the permanent collection. Due to funding opportunities, exhibitions are planned at least three years in advance.
Exhibition Proposals
We accept exhibition proposals on an ongoing basis and review the submissions twice a year in May and November. Proposals should include:
- Brief description of the proposed exhibition (maximum 300 words)
- Brief biography and/or artist statement (maximum 300 words)
- Up to 10 images of recent work with accompanying image list detailing artist’s name, title, date, medium and dimensions of each work
- Current CV (maximum three pages)
- Optional: Any additional relevant support material, such as publications or reviews (maximum five pages in PDF format)
Please submit your proposal through our online form. Selected proposals will be contacted directly. We appreciate your interest, however not all submissions can be accommodated.
Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Assistance Grants
The Woodstock Art Gallery is a third party recommender for Ontario Arts Council (OAC) Exhibition Assistance Grants. Limited funds are available and eligible applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
The 2024/2025 program is open from mid-August 2024 until Jan. 15, 2025. The Gallery has recommended all of its allotted funds. Please visit the OAC website for more information.
