Support the Collection

Since its founding in 1967, the Woodstock Art Gallery has worked to develop a relevant permanent collection.  Over the last 50 years, the collection has grown through both generous gifts of works of art and the financial support of individuals, organizations and various levels of government.

The Gallery’s collection priorities are:

  • To collect high-quality works of art within a regional context and relevance to the artistic history of the region.
  • To collect contemporary and historic works of art by outstanding regional artists.
  • To collect contemporary and historic works of art by Canadian artists of national stature.
  • To collect art and artifacts relating to Woodstock artist Florence Carlyle.

The Woodstock Art Gallery’s Collection Committee meets a minimum of four times a year. The Committee assesses all potential permanent collection acquisitions. They consider factors such as quality, authenticity and provenance, relevance to the collection, condition, value to the community, cost, storage requirements and legal considerations.

If you are interested in gifting an artwork or making a financial donation to support the permanent collection, please contact Mary Reid, Director/Curator or Roberta Grosland, Head of Collections.

For more information about donating works of art to the Woodstock Art Gallery please check out our Donor Fact Sheet.
