The Woodstock Art Gallery offers a variety of opportunities for local artists to showcase their work each year, including juried exhibitions and fundraising events.

Visual Elements 63: Annual Juried Exhibition Call to Artists

Visual Elements 63: Annual Juried Exhibition celebrates the breadth and diversity of talent that resides in Oxford County.

This year’s exhibition will be presented in-person at the Woodstock Art Gallery and online as a virtual exhibition.

Artist submissions will be accepted through an online registration form. Please read the Terms of Entry and File Requirements below for details.

Key Dates*

  • Submission Deadline: May 5, 2021 at noon
  • Notification of Acceptance: June 7, 2021
  • Artwork Drop-Off: June 23 – 30, 2021 (by appointment only)
  • Exhibition Run: July 14, 2021 – September 18, 2021
  • Artwork Pick-Up: September 22 – 29, 2021 (by appointment only)

Terms of Entry

  • Open to all southern Ontario artists working in any medium. All submitting artists must be current members of the Woodstock Art Gallery. To purchase or renew your membership, please complete the online Membership Purchase form.
  • Maximum of two works per artist.
  • $10 entry fee per artwork. Payment must be made by credit card through the online registration form.
  • All artwork and artist statements will be submitted through the online registration form. Email entries will not be accepted. Please see below for File Requirements.
  • Please be as specific as possible when listing the medium of the entry on the registration form.
  • WAG reserves the right to refuse any artworks due to questions of copyright, ownership and/or authorship.
  • All works must have been completed within the last 18 months, are wholly original and have been created by the submitting artist.
  • Artworks previously displayed at the WAG (in the Gift Shop, Art Rental Program or other Community Exhibitions) are ineligible.
  • Artists whose work is selected by the jury will be notified by June 7, 2021.
  • The jury’s decision is final. No entry may be withdrawn after the exhibition has been installed. The virtual exhibition will remain on the WAG’s website indefinitely.
  • Delivery and pick-up of artworks will be scheduled by appointment only.
  • Submissions must be ready-to-hang and have no wet media. New Media works must come with AV equipment provided by the artist.
  • All accepted artworks will be insured by WAG while on the premises until the last specified pick-up date.
  • Artists will receive a stipend of $50 for each work exhibited. Payments will be issued after July 14, 2021 and may take 4 – 6 weeks to process. Payments are issued by the City of Woodstock via direct deposit.
  • Works will not be available for purchase. If the WAG receives an inquiry from a prospective buyer, the information will be forwarded to the artist. The WAG will not collect commission on any sales that may have resulted from the exhibition.
  • By entering the exhibition, artists grant the WAG the right to use images of artwork(s) for the virtual exhibition, publicity, advertising, educational reference, and social media.
  • Registration forms must be submitted online by May 5, 2021, at noon to be considered for the exhibition. No late entries will be accepted. No email entries will be accepted.

File Requirements

  • Images should be well lit, clear and as high quality as possible. If your artwork is accepted by the jury, the images submitted during registration will be used in the virtual exhibition. Images deemed low quality will not be accepted.
  • Each entry may be represented by up to three different views, for a total number of six files per artist. We recommend multiple views be submitted for 3D works.
  • For each artwork submitted, please provide a 100 word artist statement. The WAG reserves the right to edit these statements for length or clarity.
  • Files must be labelled: “Artist’s Last Name_Title of Work” (ex. Smith_MyArtwork). Add a number to the file name if you are submitting multiple images (ex. Smith_MyArtwork_1).
  • Images should be submitted as JPG, JPEG or PNG files only. The registration form will not accept PDF files.
  • File resolution must be no larger than 300dpi to a maximum of 2 MB.
  • No email submissions — registration form uploads only.
