Museum About Us

The Woodstock Museum National Historic Site is a community museum owned and operated by the City of Woodstock. It is committed to the preservation of the Old Town Hall as a heritage site and its use as a cultural centre.

The Woodstock Museum NHS portrays the human history of the City of Woodstock and Oxford County. The Museum collects, researches and conserves a representative collection of significant artifacts that contribute to an understanding of the history of Woodstock and Oxford County.

Guiding Principles

Mission: The Woodstock Museum National Historic Site strives to interpret the past, present and future through conservation, education and exhibition of local history.

Vision: To welcome, inspire and develop each visitor’s historical perspective of Woodstock and Oxford County

Mandate:

  • Respect: We believe that every person deserves to be treated equally with respect and compassion.
  • Stewardship: Communicate a strong sense of integrity in the protection of the Museum collection, and in historical research, for today and future generations.
  • Arts and Entertainment: We believe that the Woodstock Museum NHS will imaginatively recreate the past in an accurate and entertaining manner.

Learning Environment: We provide exhibits, programs and activities and other educational resources to enhance the knowledge and understanding of our unique heritage.
