Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment is authorized by the Ontario Planning Act to grant minor variances from the provisions of the zoning bylaw, to permit extensions, enlargements or variations of existing legal non-conforming uses and give consent to an owner of land who wishes to sell, convey or transfer an interest "part" of their land. Further information about the committee if described in chapter 40 of the Woodstock Municipal Code.

The committee's mandate is to weigh the evidence, apply standards of law and render a decision in a formal manner similar to the court system. Visit our minor variances page for information regarding application forms, fees, etc.

Meetings are held in a quasi-judicial setting, on the Monday prior to the 2nd Woodstock City Council meeting of the month, excluding January, July, August and December when the hearing will be held on the Monday prior to the only scheduled Woodstock City Council meeting.

Committee meetings are held at Woodstock City Hall.

Committee members are paid a remuneration of $50 per meeting.
