The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is the head of administration for the city and reports directly to council.

The CAO has control and management of the administration of the city and performs duties as prescribed by council bylaws.

Working with the heads of the various departments, the CAO makes recommendations on policy matters to council and ensures that policies, procedures and directions are communicated to, and acted upon by administration.

Lastly, all administrative reports and recommendations to council are consolidated and coordinated through the CAO.

The department consists of the CAO and an administrative assistant whose time is shared with the mayor’s office.
