Bylaw Enforcement

Default Banner

Our Bylaw Enforcement Officers are responsible for ensuring that all of our bylaws are being adhered to and investigating complaints appropriately.  Currently, we have only two bylaw officers on staff.  One officer looks after all concerns north of Dundas Street, while the other officer looks after all concerns south of Dundas Street.  Their objective is:

  • To increase public awareness of the City of Woodstock bylaws that presently exist in neighbourhoods
  • Facilitate residents to become more familiar with their responsibilities and rights as property owners or tenants
  • Achieve compliance with the City of Woodstock bylaws through education in order to preserve the quality of community living

Reporting a Concern or Complaint

If you believe someone has violated a bylaw, our Bylaw Enforcement Officers will investigate the alleged violation.  Whether you call our bylaw line directly at 519-539-2382 ext. 3160, come in person to the Engineering/Public Works Office at 944 James Street or you email the Bylaw Department (see email link below) we require the following information in order to investigate your concerns/complaints properly:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your address
  • Your phone number
  • The address of where the violation is taking place along with all the details of that particular violation.  (If it is for a vacant lot, please give a detailed description of its location).

Anonymous calls or complaints with only partial information will not be investigated.  Your information will be kept confidential.
