2018 Municipal Election Positions

Purpose of Positions:

Performs the statutory duties as required in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act and the City Clerk. Performs duties in accordance with the job description associated with the position.

Available Positions:

  • Deputy Returning Officer: issues ballots to qualified electors.
  • Poll Clerk: electronically strikes voters off the voters’ list.
  • Revisions Clerk: makes electronic revisions to the voters’ list.
  • Vote Tabulator Operator: processes ballots into the vote tabulator.
  • Greeter: ensures voters are directed to the appropriate areas.

To be considered for a position, applicants must possess the following knowledge and skills, and be willing to carry out the core responsibilities of the position.

  • Knowledge of the Municipal Elections Act is an asset.
  • Must attend the workshop/training session held by the Municipal Clerk concerning the Municipal Election.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Previous Election experience is an asset.
  • Assist with setting up the voting station and voting location.
  • Ensure the voting location is opened and closed within the appropriate times.
  • Assist in returning the facility to the condition it was in when the poll began.
  • Assist with voter inquiries in regard to the Municipal Elections Act.

 

Successful applicants will be required to work one of the following:

  • Advance Poll City Hall (October 6th from 9am to 4pm, October 9-12th from 8am to 4pm)
  • Advance Poll Library (October 15-19th from 12pm to 8pm)
  • Election Day Polls (October 22nd from 10am – 8pm)
  • Election Day Roving Poll #1 (October 22nd from 10:00am – 5:30pm)
  • Election Day Roving Poll #2 (October 22nd from 10:00am – 6:30pm)

**Note: the times above represent the times the polling location is open. You will be required to assist with setting up and taking down the poll before and after the times listed.

Remuneration:

Training Session - $40.00

Advance Polls - $135 per day

Election Day Polls - $170
