City to receive $2.5M from Housing Infrastructure Program
Woodstock – In a release from MPP Ernie Hardeman’s office on Friday, the province announced that the City’s application to the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program – Housing Enabling Core Servicing Stream (MHIP-HECS) was successful. The city will receive $2,562,500 from the province to urbanize Pittock Park Road. The project, which is included in the 2026 capital budget, will include the addition of sidewalks, bike lanes and street lighting along the 2km stretch of road that connects Vansittart Avenue to Oxford Road 17.
“This is great news for our community,” said Mayor Jerry Acchione. “Woodstock continues to develop and we are grateful for support from our provincial partners to ensure we’re able to deliver the amenities people expect in a growing city.”
Pittock Park Road was originally built as a rural road, however the area around it has grown significantly over the past 10 years. More than 1200 homes have been built in the north end of the city, resulting in a substantial increase in both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. There are an additional 1680 housing units expected to be built in the area by 2031. This funding will help advance the work necessary to add these urban amenities to keep our community safe.
