Woodstock welcomes new family doctor
Woodstock, ON - The City of Woodstock would like to welcome Dr. Sarah Davies who will be opening her Family Practice in Woodstock on Sept. 19, 2022. Dr. Davies completed her M.D. and post-graduate Family Medicine training at Western University in London, Ontario. She has a broad range of interests in medicine and hopes to work with medical students and residents.
“We’re so pleased to welcome Dr. Davies back to the community,” said Kristy Hons, Physician Recruiter for the City of Woodstock. “Dr. Davies had the privilege of meeting and training under many local Woodstock physicians during her studies at Western and we’re so fortunate that she’s decided to establish her practice here.”
Based on calculations from March 2020 data from the Health Analytics Branch and Health Force Ontario, it is estimated that at least six new family physicians are currently needed to meet local demand in the City of Woodstock alone. Factoring in the need across Oxford County, data suggests the number of new doctors required to meet the demand is closer to 12.
With the community’s projected population growth, this remains a high priority for the City. Staff has been actively working to recruit more doctors to the community since it was identified as a community priority in the 2012 Strategic Plan.
Added Hons, “Woodstock is an easy place to love. We’ve seen physicians return to Woodstock to set up their practices after completing their residency here. It’s always exciting to visit the different medical schools and invite them to come visit our community so I can show them the opportunities that exist here.”
Dr. Davies is thrilled to be joining the Woodstock community to provide comprehensive primary care. She will be opening her practice at 645 Finkle St., Suite 1200 in Woodstock. If you do not have a Family Doctor, you may complete a patient application on her website www.daviesfamilymed.com. Please do not call or go to the clinic until you are contacted for an appointment.
