Physics Matters: Interactive science exhibit on display now at the Woodstock Museum
A new exhibit at the Woodstock Museum NHS is demystifying the science that shapes our everyday lives.
Physics Matters: An Interactive Science Exhibit explores topics including matter, force, motion, light, sound, structures and simple machines with informative panels, diagrams and interactive components.
“Science education has been a big focus of our school programming for many years. We offer a hands-on experience with historical artifacts for elementary students learning about simple machines,” said Kerrie Gill, Education Officer.
“We wanted to build on the success of those programs with an exhibit that people of all ages can learn from and enjoy.”
The content for the exhibit is based on the Ontario Science and Technology curriculum for Grades 3 to 5. Many of the interactive components were designed and assembled by Adam Pollard, Curator of Collections.
“Like history, science helps us to better understand the world around us. These hands-on demonstrations give visitors and students a chance to see science in action,” said Pollard.
Physics Matters will be open to the public through the summer. Schools, camps and community groups can book a special program based on the exhibit.
The Museum is also hosting a free drop-in program for Family Day on Monday, Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. with science demonstrations, family-friendly activities and crafts.
